The reconstruction of Ponacka Kids Club in Ashiyie, a suburb in Accra, Ghana.
What is it?
In collaboration with our partner Stichting Kwame, Ponacka Kids Club in Ghana was founded by Helena Obeng with the goal to take care for children in need in the region who are not in the position to attend elementary school. Every Sunday, children from 4 to 14 years come to Ponacka Kids Club to engage in activities like dancing, cooking, literacy training, sports and drama - all with the aim to learn about actual themes and for personal development. See below some footage of the activities of Ponacka Kids Club:
Unfortunately, the roof of the Kids club has collapsed recently, threatening the safety construction of the entire building. For this reason, the club is already closed for a while. For us and Stichting Kwame it was clear. We want to rebuild this club, and contribute to Helena’s dream: making sure these children have a future and are able to enjoy education! They need it.
See below some footage of the reconstruction process!
The impact we created in one week is truly impressive: the damage is completely repaired, the safety is reassured and Ponacka Kids Club reopened her doors. Thanks to you, Helena’s dream remains intact and the 60 children are able to enjoy education again.
To make this project more meaningful, the yearly salary of the two volunteers is paid and at the reopening yesterday, a welcome meal was arranged for all the humans that were involved. We are so grateful, you made a difference and there is more to come!
Thank you from us, Stichting Kwame and the Club! We are even more driven to serve and make a meaningful contribution to this world and we hope you as well.
